AVK Philippines supplied a DN1400 BU bonneted gate to Angat Dam, assisting in securing the water supply of Manila’s metropolitan area.
The National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) initiated a required replacement of an electric turbine at Angat Dam – On of the Philippines key water reservoirs located at Norzagaray, Bulacan in the north of the Country. From this dam Manila Water and Maynilad supply water to millions of consumers in Metropolitan Manila and nearby provinces.
AVK Philippines and the contractor collaborated on finding the ideal solution and ended up with choosing a BU bonneted gate for the project. Orbinox, a member of the AVK Group, delivered a DN1400 bonneted gate with PN16 flange drilling, designed for a working pressure of 150 mWC and equipped with an AUMA electric actuator.
Orbinox specialises in producing large-diameter valves for dams, reservoirs and hydropower applications. The valve was produced at their location in Spain, and the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) was conducted here in order to verify that all specifications and materials met the project requirements.
For the installation, two additional DN150 gate valves were supplied.
AVK’s ability to provide tailored valve solutions played a key role in successfully realising the project, and the BU bonneted gate and the additional valves are successfully installed at the dam.
